15 February 2022I was so happy with my Recon 9' 8wt that I bought a 7'6" 3wt Recon to blue line smaller Pennsylvania streams. This mid-range rod has performed above and above my expectations in terms of loading and accuracy. Whether I'm using it with my Orvis Hydros (3wt outfit) or my Orvis Clearwater (8wt outfit), the rod is perfectly balanced. If I had to select anything, it would be that this rod's lower-weight action could be a little quicker. Just a little too sluggish for my taste, but not enough to warrant switching to another rod. The Recon should be on your short list of possibilities if you're searching for a mid-range do-it-all rod. There is no need to be concerned.
